Smoky Mountain Creations is a business owned and operated locally by Robert J. and Shelby J. Wagner, formerly from Michigan. It is an umbrella for several e-commerce services which we provide.
Shelby is a retired music teacher, and Robert is an engineer retired from General Motors Corp. Desiring a slightly warmer winter climate while retaining the four seasons, we chose the Tennessee mountain area for our retirement home. So, in 2000, we relocated to Parrottsville, TN, built a new house with a beautiful view of the Smoky Mountains and have become a contributing part of the community by joining several organizations listed below. We are now members of the Parrottsvillle Methodist church, where I, Shelby, am the Organist.
Along with the beautiful scenery of the Smokies, we also enjoy the musical and artistical culture of the area. As we became involved in the community, we began to wonder how we could help the local artists and crafters. We decided to create a website on which they could sell their works while sharing in the expenses involved in having a website. Thus, our online shopping mall, or art gallery, www.smokymountaincreations.net, was born. It began with just two "stores" and has grown to "eleven" stores in one year. Our statistics show a total of 86,079 hits for the first year, Jan. thourgh Dec. 2004, and we have received many compliments on its construction.
Each artist and/or crafter has his/her own "mini-website" which tells a short bio of its owner and pictures and product details for a few of their works. Each site is accessed through the "Artisans" link above.
Our interest in Web Sites and curiosity led to our new "craft" and business of Web Design and Development. We find much enjoyment in it and are fine-tuning our skills by taking classes at Walter State Community College. So far we have completed four classes including Web Design and Development, e-Commerce, Information Technology, and Graphics and Animation. We will soon start the fifth class - Internet Programming.
