Joan Beaver, Artist

Joan is known throughout Michigan as an artist specializing in silkscreen, drawing and stained glass.  In 1973 she was named the state's outstanding art teacher.  Joan has won two Project Teach Awards and several graphic awards.  Some of her work is on display in Michigan at the K-Mart World Headquarters, The Detroit Edison Company, Messa Insurance Co., and the Michigan Education Association. In 1993, one of Joan's dolls was chosen as the angel for the White House Christmas Tree, and In 1998, she was one of seven Tennessee artists asked to make a snowman for the White House Christmas Tree.   Her work includes fine art, prints, graphics, and her unique soft-sculpture dolls called, "Peculiar People".

We are proud to feature Joan's handcrafted "Peculiar People" dolls.   They become new small friends as she works, each taking on its own personality and telling her how to dress them.  Joan uses antique fabrics and trim if possible.   The Home and Garden television show has featured Joan's dolls, you may have seen it.   Each doll is one-of-a-kind and would be a wonderful addition to your fine art collection. Joan is available for Commissioned Works, and takes special orders.  You can see a larger picture, product details, and /or send your order, by clicking on the small picture below.
