Life feels fabulous in alpaca!  Alpacas produce one of the world's finest and most luxurious natural fibers. It is clipped from the animal without causing injury. Soft as cashmere and warmer, lighter and stronger than wool, it comes in more natural colors than any other fiber-producing animal. This cashmere-like fleece, once reserved for Incan royalty, is now enjoyed by spinners and weavers around the world.

Jan Harris, one of the owners of Heavens View Acres, is pictured here spinning the fibers into yarn.  An almost endless variety of clothing, blankets and other items can be made from alpaca fleece.   Scarves, ski caps and bands, shawls, yarn and even a 100% alpaca teddy bear are for sale here. The fleece can be used in its natural color or dyed. All of our items are of natural color.

Alpacas were a cherished treasure of the ancient Incan civilization and played a central role in the Incan culture that was located on the high Andean Plateau and mountains of South America. They have been domesticated for over 5000 years and are now becoming internationally recognized. They make practical pets as they are clean, safe, quiet, intelligent and disease resistant. They make wonderful companions and great 4-H projects.
