Joan is known throughout Michigan as an artist specializing in silkscreen, drawings, and stained glass. In 1973 she was named the state's outstanding art teacher.
Joan Beaver is well-known throughout East Tennessee for her pen-and-ink drawings of historic buildings and her soft sculptures.
Joan has won two Project Teach Awards and several graphic awards. Some of her work is on display in Michigan at the K-Mart World Headquarters, The Detroit Edison Company, Messa Insurance Co., and the Michigan Education Association.
In 1993, one of Joan's dolls was chosen as the angel for the White House Christmas Tree, and in 1998, she was one of seven Tennessee artists asked to make a snowman for the White House Christmas Tree.
Her work includes fine art, prints, graphics, and her unique soft-sculpture dolls called, "Peculiar People".
We are proud to feature Joan's handcrafted "Peculiar People" Soft Sculptures. As she works, these Soft Sculptures become new small friends, each taking on its own personality and which tells her how to dress them. Joan uses antique fabrics and trim if possible. The Home and Garden television show has featured Joan's dolls, you may have seen the show.
Each soft sculpture is one-of-a-kind and would make a wonderful addition to your fine art collection. Interior Designers looking for that unique, special accent piece will love Joan's high quality and artistic work.
Joan is available for Commissioned Works, and Special Orders.
